“I stand with the people of Israel as they defend their country from this heinous, surprise attack on Shabbat and during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah,” said Mike Sapraicone. “It is clearly an effort to harm Israel’s growing strategic alliances in the Middle East and should only serve to strengthen America’s support of our ally Israel.”
“Americans know all too well about the evils of terrorists who attack innocent people,” Sapraicone continued. “People across the world who value life must stand together to condemn this atrocity — and those responsible must be held accountable.”
“I unequivocally condemn the attacks on Israel conducted by Hamas and support its right to defend against violence,” Sapraicone concluded. “As we pray for the people of Israel, heightened security must ensure the safety of Jewish people in New York and beyond.”
A Career in Law Enforcement and Global Security
Retired New York Police Department Detective and Nassau County business leader, Mike Sapraicone, announced his campaign for New York’s 3rd Congressional District. Sapraicone is a registered Republican who will be seeking the Republican and Conservative Party nominations.
After growing up in Richmond Hill, Queens, Mike Sapraicone began his 20-year law enforcement career in 1980 as a transit officer protecting millions of subway riders. Mike was later promoted to first-grade detective—a rank in which he worked to bring high-profile criminals to justice.
Being at the foundation of New York City’s turnaround, Mike saw first-hand the impact of crime on New York’s economy and the need for businesses to have a private security option. It was with this in mind that he founded Squad Security to provide security services to New York-based companies, including the American Stock Exchange. Since retiring from the NYPD in 2000, Mike has grown this small business into a global security firm in the heart of Long Island and employed more than 600 active and retired members of law enforcement.
Mike Sapraicone served as president of the Seaford Union Free School District Board of Education and is Chairman of the Board Emeritus at Holy Cross High School in Flushing. He currently sits on the boards of the Museum of American Armor in Old Bethpage, Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation, Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, Catholic Youth Organization, and the Columbus Citizens Foundation, for which he Co-Chaired New York City’s Columbus Day Parade.
Mike is a nationally-recognized security expert and has frequently appeared on NBC’s Today Show, Fox News, MSNBC and CNN. He also hosted “Mike Sapraicone’s Street Smart” on Long Island News Radio.
Mike attended City University of New York John Jay College of Criminal Justice and served in the United States Navy, receiving an Honorable Discharge.
Mike has lived on Long Island for 32 years and currently resides in the Town of Oyster Bay with his wife Eileen. Mike is the father of five children and has five grandchildren.
